Congregation Emanu-El is seeking a passionate and skilled B'Mitzvah Program Director to
lead and oversee our B'Mitzvah program. This role is an exciting
opportunity to guide our students and families through this pivotal
milestone, emphasizing meaningful Jewish learning, skill-building, and
personal growth.
Responsibilities:
- Educational Leadership: Teach and coordinate liturgical skills (e.g., Musaf, Ashrei) and
essential home rituals (e.g., Hamotzi, Kiddush). Support students during Shabbat morning services.
- Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the rabbi and staff to refine and implement
curriculum,(e.g., Torah portion, social action, Jewish values, life
skills).
- Teaching: Plan and implement the curriculum to students in Grade 6 and 7 on Sunday mornings from 10 am to 1pm.
- Supervision and Training: Oversee, supervise and train tutors to support individualized learning
for each student, ensuring they are well-prepared for their B’Mitzvah.
- Communication: Communicate with parents and families, the rabbi, Hebrew School directors and students on a regular basis.
- Fundraising: Support and Collaborate on Fundraising Initiatives with Hebrew School and the Synagogue.
- B’Mitzvah Event Planning: Liaise between parents, Religious Services and Directors at the
synagogue to coordinate each B’Mitzvah date, including plans for the
Shabbat Service and Kiddush Luncheon. Order Siddurim and Kiddush Cups
for B’Mitzvah students.
Weeks vary in terms of workload, but the successful candidate can expect about ten hours of work a week from September to May, with a significant decrease from June to August. Hours are flexible with the exception of Sunday morning classes from 10 am to 1pm. We offer competitive wages based on experience. Please contact us for more details.
